This will be my final post for 2011 since it's about to end in about 10 hours. I think I really got some stuff this break and hopefully it'll pay off in the future.
Here's a shot of the cds I ordered and my new business card.
I was able to practice some Actionscript and tried out an engine called Flashpunk although I'd like to try out a different one called Flixel in the future. I kinda feel bad about not making any new songs using LSDJ. This quarter I'll be taking music theory, so I feel like I'll be able to pump out a song or two with some actual skill. As for 2012 I've got some new years resolutions.
1. Get a summer internship at a game studio
2. Practice 1 hour of code (any) every day
3. Make more games
4. Make more songs using LSDJ
5. Play more games
Pertaining to number 5 I realized I didn't play enough games to even make a top 10 of 2012 list. Instead I have about a top 7 list of games.
1. Saints Row: The Third
2. Skyrim
3. Portal 2
4. Shadow of the Colossus (Re-release for ps3, yea I know it's old, but the collection came out this year)
5. Catherine
6. Minecraft
7. Swords & Sworcery
That's right Skyrim wasn't my top choice. After enjoying it for a couple of weeks I felt a bit tired of if and Saints Row was the perfect counter-part to it. It's incredibly wacky and I really appreciate that it's self-aware. No not like a killer robot or anything. I just think the game really knows what it is. It's not trying to be a super serious game and at the same time the crazyness of the game isn't off-putting. Plus its got a nice co-op mode.
Well that's all for 2011. See you in 2012 and happy new year!
