So it's week three of the fall quarter and things are going fairly well.
Here's a screenshot of an asset I made for a group project in Environment & Level Design.
It was modeled in Maya and this is it in Zbrush after texturing and doing some Normal map stuff.
And here it is in the Unreal Development Kit(UDK). The voltage meters were left out because of some normal mapping problems and I'll probably make them separate.
I can sort of see why people would want to do this kind of stuff. Once you finally see your work in engine it feels pretty good. As for programming for Interactivity...I'll let my first exercise speak for itself.
