A Tribute to Coco

For our 2nd Color Theory project we were assigned to design a postage stamp containing a person. I chose to do Conan because I've been a big fan of Coco since I was about 14. We had to create 4 copies of the one stamp design, but use different color schemes. (Achromatic, Monochromatic, Analogous, and Triadic)

All Stamps are approx. 8 by 10 inches
Medium: Acrylic Paint

Achromatic (Grayscale)

Monochromatic(color palette based on a single hue with all the shades(addition of black), tints(addition of white), and tones(addition of grey or complementary color) of that hue.

Analogous(3 colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel) still using tints, shades, and tones of each
Colors:Red, Red-Orange, Orange
Least Favorite: Too much contrast

Triadic( colors which form an implied triangle on the color wheel)
Primary Triadic(Red,Blue,Yellow)
Favorite: Based on the Simpsons Yellow Look

I could tell that my painting skills throughout the project because by the last stamp I painted (triadic) I was really satisfied with the quality. I also learned that yellow tones can get really ugly so they need to be used lightly. The portrait is based on Mike Mitchell's "Im with Coco" digital painting.
